With just a few weeks left in the year, things are still busy as ever! We continue working through the holidays to push as many new features as possible, as well as prepare for the upcoming semester.


Yesterday on Dec 9, we had 2 issues that caused some disruption:

  1. First, there was an issue with Google Doc assignments that affected all students attempting to submit their Google Doc assignments. This is now resolved. Full details here.
  2. The second incident involved students receiving duplicate emails of teacher announcements. This is now resolved. 


And since our last update on Nov 18, the below list is what has been updated.



Teacher Experience



Discussions / Assignments / Assessments

  • Modules - Added ability to restore deleted Module folders
  • Modules - Improved copying activities to other modules/classes
  • Discussions - Added ability to "Save for later"
  • Multiple Choice questions
    • Added Lock option to maintain options in their selected position in the list. For example if you wanted a "None of the above" option to always be the last in the list, you can simply lock just that option and the above options would still randomize order for each student.
    • Default to 4 options
    • Added support for "tab" key to navigate to the next option, rather than inserting a tab inside the textbox
  • Added Print option to Rubrics
  • Improved handling of links to Modules and Pages for linked sections
  • Changing grade category for an activity will automatically apply across all linked sections
  • Enhanced ability to modify and re-generate groups for group assignments
  • Resources - Improved UI for sharing resources
  • Resources - Added SCORM file support
  • Improved sorting to always remember the most recent setting, for any list that can be sorted

  • Improved support for math formulas with copying and pasting from clipboard

  • Assign to individual students - Added ability to exclude from other linked sections

  • Added support for sharing direct eKadence URLs of activities. For example, inside an assignment, you can take the URL from the address bar and share that directly with a student. That URL will work for that student to open that assignment in his/her respective view as a student.

  • Added support for "Shared Drives" with Google Drive

  • Added formative option to Grading settings


Grading

  • Grading floor - Do NOT apply grading floor to extra credit activities
  • Gradebook - Added Remove from gradebook option

  • Improved merging of Aeries gradebook comments with eKadence gradebook comments

  • Improved display of Aeries grading categories next to eKadence grading categories

  • Grading categories - Added setting to automatically drop lowest X number of grades

  • Added ability to import scores for a single assignment.

  • Improved the "Mass Changes" feature (formerly Assign Global Grade & Comment). A "Mark Grading Completed" convenience option was also added to save extra clicks.

Class Settings / Roster

  • Added a Reactivate button to bring back inactive students
  • Added Print all IEPs button
  • Added "Can Manage Class" permission for Co-Teachers to control class settings
  • New student transfers - Migrate scores from other class feature now supports defaulting existing grades to a set score.


Misc

  • Conferences - Added Preview and Edit functionality for sending missed-conference notifications to students and parents
  • Dashboard - Class cards are getting re-designed to display only relevant information while taking up less space. The first of many changes has already gone live, with more to come soon.
  • Improved printing grades for a single student


Fixed

  • Dashboard Comment Widget was showing nothing
  • Module folders will retain last open/closed setting for next time loading the Modules screen
  • Copying activities was not showing subfolders
  • New students enrolled alert was including inactive students
  • Minor bugs with True/False questions
  • Inactive students were also receiving class notifications 



Student Experience


  • Allow creating events in a group if this student is assigned Owner role
  • For ungraded activities, do not show the "points possible"
  • Assessments - When showing one question at a time, only show the banner on the first screen. Subsequent (not for each question)
  • Improved support for math formulas with copy and paste from clipboard
  • Added "View" to activities in addition to "Doc"
