In the Works/Questions tab of an assignment, you can hover over Insert Content and locate the Numeric option.
You will then be given a text box to enter the question. For example in the image below, you can provide a list of data points and ask for the average of the data points. Answers should only consist of numbers. Provide a range of acceptable numbers.

Number ranges are inclusive
Make sure min/max are both filled out to enforce a specific value
An empty min/max will mean open-ended rage. For example, leaving the max blank would allow any response above the minimum value as correct
