The Students page is a way for teachers to easily add, move, remove, and manage all of their students in one single location.

Accessing the Students Page

To access the Students page, open any class and click on the Students tab on the left-hand side of the page.

Class Roster

This tab on the Students page is where most features and main tools are for teachers to use.

  • Add an existing student - This will allow teachers to add any students that are already in the eKadence database into their classroom. Teachers can select one or more students and search for different classes they currently teach to add students to their new class.
    • Clicking on the three dots (. . .) next to Add an existing student will allow the teacher to create a blank student record which is essentially creating a new student account from scratch.
  • Import/Export to/from CSV - This allows teachers to import CSV files from the current computer or Google Drive. Teachers can also export a CSV file onto their computers as well. Below is an image of the Import from the CSV screen.

  • Student Count - Displays how many students are currently in the class.

  • Student Display - This is primarily what teachers will be shown upon entering the Student's screen.
    • Sort by name - Last Name, First Name or First Name, Last Name
      • Students will also display an IEP/504/BIP or EL (English Learner) symbol next to their name if the tag corresponds with the student.
    • Email display - Displays the corresponding student emails
    • Student number - Displays the corresponding student number
    • Last Login - Displays when the student had last logged into eKadence
    • Last Viewed - Displays when the student had last viewed the current class
    • Conference Attendance - Displays the student's attendance for conferences
    • Grading floor - Teachers can set a grading floor for all students by clicking on the pencil icon next to Grading Floor, or they can set a grading floor for individual students by clicking on the pencil icon in the list below the Grading Floor column.
    • Actions - Teachers can remove students, migrate scores, view class ePortfolios, or resend an invitation if the student has not joined the class yet.

New Group Configuration

This tab allows teachers to create and manage groups from the Students page. Teachers can also use these groups after they have been created in activities.

  • Group Configuration Name - This allows the teacher to set the name for the group configuration.
  • Number of groups - This allows the teacher to set the number of groups.
  • Random Group Generator - This will randomly generate random groups based on the number of groups that have been set.
  • Set groups manually - Teachers will be able to create new groups and move around students to set them in different groups.
  • Groups and Not assigned to any group - Here, teachers will be able to see all students assigned to their designated groups. Teachers can drag and drop students to move them to different groups or delete a group by clicking on the trash can icon. Depending on how the teacher set groups for students, if there are any students that have not been assigned to a group, they will be placed in the Not assigned to any group column.

Open Invite

This tab allows teachers to invite new students to the class with various methods:

  • Allow students to self-enroll:  Teachers must activate this "On" switch to turn on the Open Invite feature. This will then allow for students to begin enrolling in the class.

  • "To allow students to self-enroll, share this link": An auto-generated link will be created for teachers to copy and send to students who will be invited to enroll.

  • Require passcode: Teachers can create an optional Passcode that students would need to enter, in order to enroll in the class.

  • Invite by email: Teachers can use this action to enter a list of email addresses, to invite prospective students by email instead of relying on the students to use the share link/URL. Please refer to the sample image below, to see the "Invite by email" window:
