Accessing Assessments

In order to access the assessments page, teachers must make sure they are currently in a class. From here, they can click on the Assessments tab on the left side of the page. If you cannot locate the assessments tab, check the custom tabs setting in the setup class tab.


A look at the Assessments page

Upon entering the assessments page, teachers will see several different features to help them navigate through the page:

  • A [+] Create Assessments button.
  • A Restore Deleted Assessments button.
  • Columns displaying assessment name, publish date, due date, and submissions.
  • Teachers can publish or unpublished assessments by respectively clicking on the green 'Published' button or the blue 'Publish' button (not shown) under the Publish Date column.
  • The submissions column will display the number of students that have submitted the assessments out of the number of students in the class. Clicking on any of these numbers will take the teacher to the submissions grading page.
  • The far right column displays different 'tools' that teachers can use on the assessments page. Teachers could access discussions from an assessment (if applicable). As another option, teachers can copy, print, edit, or delete assessments.
  • Clicking on the notification (circled in blue) will take the teacher to the quick grader page for that assessment (similar to the What needs grading widget).


How to create an Assessment

After clicking on the [+] Assessment button, teachers will be presented with a small creation bar on the right side of the screens where specific settings can be adjusted. After adjusting any needed settings, click Create.

Below are the different settings that teachers can change after creating an assessment.

  • General Details
    • Specifically for assessments, teachers can set a password on any assessments that have been created.
  • Publish and Due Date
  • Student Submission
    • The teacher can set the number of attempts that are allowed for the students.
  • Student Review
    • This setting can only be seen for assessments. Teachers can allow 'reviewing' options for students and options for when students are allowed to review.
  • Grading
  • Assigning
  • Advanced Settings
    • A time limit can be set on the test
    • One question can be displayed at a time
    • The order of questions can be randomized for each student
    • You now also have the ability to Generate with AI which allows you to create quizzes and exams in a matter of seconds. All you need to do in create a prompt for the AI with the details of your quiz such as the topic and it will create up to 20 questions for you and you can regenerate those questions until you are satisfied.

Similar to Assignments, after adjusting the settings for the assessment, teachers can then add content to the assessment.
